The Creative Realtor Makes New Changes
It all started back in 2005. This artistic wide-eyed idealist about to change the real estate world with her uber creative ideas. It started out with a bang, with property prices soaring at all time highs. I spent most of a year getting large land listings, at one point I had 3000 acres in collective listings.
That first year was hard, hard work, especially holding down a full time teaching job. Good thing my youngest was off to college and my hubby was supportive and fortunately very independent. I spent a lot of late hours at the office, then The Preferred under the brokerage of Beth Hemingway. I was fortunate to get great direction and mentoring from Beth and her husband Gene.
Then the West Nile plague of 2006 hit, and I was infected. Over 1000 Idahoans were infected that summer, the highest number of cases in the United States next to Texas with 300-some cases. I know the statistics because the science teacher at Middleton High School has asked me several times to do presentations on West Nile so I am somewhat of an amateur expert, if there is such a thing.
Things were going great, then it hit, and all my hard work for the previous year crumbled beneath me. The infection caused spinal meningitis and encephalitis. I spent ten days in the hospital and the better part of six weeks bed ridden. I couldn't focus. I couldn't work on the computer. I couldn't see very well, and I certainly couldn't manage my real estate business. I referred all my inventory to other agents and I began to recover, but it wouldn't be for almost a year that I was back to my normal self. I consider this experience as humbling actually. A year of unpaid internship and priceless education.
Fast forward seven years and there is energy in the market again. I just joined a new brokerage, Western Idaho Realty where I am reconnecting with several of my former colleagues. My new broker, John Owen is amazing and we hit it off instantly. And DyAnn, the secretary, receptionist, Queen of the office and decorator extraordinaire is friendly and inviting. I am going to love my new real estate home!
Today I came up with my new business logo with my tag line: Thinking out of the box for all your real estate needs. It isn't perfected just yet, and I am sure it will morph into something great but I think I am on to something here.
I would love for you to follow me and encourage your support and comments.
Here's to a great October!

1535 S Petra is now SOLD: New Construction is on the Rise in Ada and Canyon County
Looks like the real estate market is finally turning around with new construction sales on the rise. My clients are thrilled of the increase of activity and closed on their property recently after being on the market for over six years. It is exciting to be a part of this new chapter in their lives.

An Anniversary to Celebrate

It's official. We officially closed on Pete and Louise property in May and they are CELEBRATING! I was fortunate to be invited to a special BBQ celebrating not only their real estate closing but, get this, their 46th wedding anniversary! Now, being a professional photographer sure comes in handy when I need to document something special. Congratulations Pete and Louise!

Her First Home
SHORT SALE, REO, FORCLOSURE, words that have become all too familiar in this unsettling economy. I can't help but think the sadness and sense of defeat that so many homeowner's have experienced losing their home. Such a contrast to the joy they must have felt the day they first moved in. To a lot of people owning a home represents the pinnacle American financial experience. I know personally, home ownership is my AMERICAN DREAM, my sense of belonging, and my sense of community.
In September of 2009 I got a call from Jeff and Kristy asking if I would help their daughter find a house and the search was on. The inventory was vast, the prices were great, but the process not so easy. In December we were in contract, and within two weeks we heard verbal approval from the bank (this was a REO property). Then, the game began, the waiting game. We waited, and waited and waited! Now, I don't pretend to know what goes on in the banking/lending industry but WOW! Without getting all worked up and ruining a perfectly beautiful Saturday I will not go into all the details. However what I will say is I was so happy to hear about the New Short Sale Rules that went into effect on April 5th, 2010.
I am happy to report that Alisha closed on her very first home last week! She got a great house, lots of square footage for a fantastic price and she gets to take advantage of the First Time Home Owner Tax Credit. Welcome home, Alisha, welcome home.
